We believe strongly in the value of Christian education for all ages. Each time we celebrate the sacrament of baptism we commit ourselves as a congregation to nurture the Christian growth of the child, youth or adult being baptized. And as individuals, each of us is committed to a life-long journey of learning and discipleship. A well-trained and creative church school staff carries out our ministry of Christian nurture and education.
Children in Worship Center (three-year-olds through second grade)
The Children in Worship program is held during the morning worship service. It provides a unique and innovative worship experience for young children. The program calls for a structured time with children based on the Presbyterian and Reformed outline for worship; we gather in God’s name, we proclaim God’s Word, we give thanks to God, and we go out into God’s world. Children and adult leaders are drawn into Bible stories as they experience worship through a “hands-on” approach.
We Believe nurtures the development of faith through age-appropriate Bible stories and activities and is an exciting, captivating exploration of the question, “What does it mean, as Christians and Presbyterians, to live in covenant with God and one another?”
Church School classes meet after morning worship from 10:45-11:45 and include:
- Kids Korner (three-year-olds through second grade)
- God’s Squad (third through fifth grade)
- Middle High Youth (sixth through eighth grade)
- Teaching focus: The Bible-With All Boldness and Freedom: A Survey of the New Testament
- Senior High Youth (ninth through twelfth grade)
- Teaching focus: Heidelberg Catechism and its relevance for life in our times.
Youth Ministry (sixth through twelfth grade)
The Parkwood Youth Group provides monthly opportunities for youth and their friends to grow spiritually and deepen their faith. Programs, projects and activities are developed around three main areas: fellowship, study and service.
