At Parkwood, our music ministry offers an opportunity for members of all ages to enrich and uplift worship with sacred music.
Sanctuary Choir
Open always to Senior Highs and Adults, our one requirement is to remember who and what we worship. In the words of Christ, “The hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.” –John 4:23
Because we are called to worship God with everything in us, we worship God with a variety of songs in a variety of ways. These styles range from classical-style hymns sung a cappella to a more modern gospel number accompanied only by hand drums. The music we choose is always selected to appropriately be a part of the worship theme.
The Choir participates in services twice or more a month from the beginning of September through mid-May. Additional participation and liturgical music is offered during the Christmas and Lenten seasons. The Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings and we welcome anyone interested in sharing God’s worship through song.
Handbells and Choirchimes
Joyful, inspiring music helps to deepen and enhance our worship experience providing ways to amplify the rich texture of God’s Word. The ringing of handbells may be a form of prayer since words are not essential to prayer. Instrumental music as prayer is a worthy offering of praise to God on behalf of the congregation. The church has an excellent three octave set of handbells which are played approximately once a month in worship.
Parkwood’s choirchimes are used both as accompaniment for singing, and at special events and worship opportunities.
