A mission-oriented small group, Together in Service makes items to aid women in need. These items are donated to Dégagé Ministries of Grand Rapids, and SEED of Hope Global Ministries for women in Uganda and the Dominican Republic. Join us at Parkwood on Wednesday mornings from 10-11am!
What do we make?
Feminine Hygiene Kits – made from cotton fabric, flannel, and snaps, these washable and reusable pads allow women and girls to work, go to school, and do other chores without worrying about their hygiene needs.
Ditty bags – these hand-made fabric bags are filled with hygiene supplies, gardening tools, or school supplies, depending on what is needed, and decorated with fun designs.
Recycled plastic mats and situpons – donated plastic grocery bags are turned into plarn (plastic yarn), which is then crocheted into large mats and smaller situpons. These can be used as rugs, or as sleeping mats.
Scrap quilts – the scraps of the feminine hygiene supplies and other projects are turned into scrap quilts, making our projects low-waste and high impact!
We also make teddy bears, pillowcase dresses, walker bags, and more!
